Pros: PTO I guess? though the accrual rate isn’t great.
Cons: Optum seems to only care about their bottom line. My department was an acquired asset of Optum along with several others amongst our original employer. The first thing you notice when switching over is how terrible the health benefits are. This is foreshadowing as Optum/UHC will do anything and everything in their power to cut costs at every turn. They will make you feel comfortable that your job is not in jeopardy then suddenly the layoffs begin. Even that is not done in an orderly fashion, they will just suddenly cut entire teams without fully understanding the work these teams do. Then scramble to fix the inefficiencies. They are all too happy to outsource to India and the Philippines if it means they can save some money, at the cost of customer satisfaction.

Stop the massive layoffs when you know the quality of the outsourced employees doesn’t hold a candle to those being replaced. Shameful business practice that is destroying local communities. Support your people that work so hard only to be taken for granted.

Pros: Great work life balance, great team of professionals.
Cons: To many reorganizations, layoff and pile more work on you in order to meet metrics without any increase in pay.

Be transparent with your workers when talking about reorganization and layoffs.

Pros: I guess they paid OK and benefits were OK.
Cons: And at Change Healthcare, now Optum, the CEO leadership definitely shows. I have been in meetings with the CEO where he belittled leaders and an entire groups with a complete disregard of their abilities, skills, or accomplishments. The times I heard him talk down to others he wasn't even correct in his statements. By far the worst company I have ever worked for.

If you plan to lead, lead by example and work as a team, not as leadership and the rest of the people.

    Pros: #NAME?
    Cons: #NAME?

Work on leadership development because I did a couple of tours with the company thinking I will have a different outcome. I’ve now come to realize that there’s a culture issue. Take employee complaints about leadership seriously. Leaders are allowed to run ramped and employees are left afraid to say anything out of fear of retaliation because they do it so often. I feel bad for my colleagues that I left behind but I had to leave because it was ridiculous. The proof was even there as several people left the company before me yet HR nor upper leadership did anything to address it. At this rate someday they’re going to experience heavy lawsuits if they haven’t already. It’s utterly ridiculous.
