Pros: Employee stock purchase program and employer matching on personal donations to qualified charities.
Cons: From what I have seen at Chase, success, or lack thereof, depends very greatly on the branch and the manager. I did not have a good experience as my manager was unhappy in his job, it just trickled down. No one in our branch is happy, the mood is toxic. I believe that comes from the lack of growth at Chase. It's important to love the position for which you are hired because movement is nearly impossible. The branch manager I worked for has been there 21 years, can you imagine working for the largest bank in America for 21 years and only having achieved branch manager? He has tried for other jobs many times and been turned down, as have others. I know period it is simply impossible to move ahead there. Chase is huge, this means trying to reach someone in support, or HR, or any off site depth is extremely difficult with long hold times. Phone lists are not up to date you can wait for ages only to reach the wrong person and be transferred to a disconnected line. I no longer work there and have received exactly zero communication about final pay, etc. When I call the employee hotline "call cannot go through at this time" message. The CEO had to be brought before congress in order to FINALLY give some raises, but is still not a liveable wage. This company is cheap. For people who just want to work as a teller, go no further, and have a 2nd income in the house, you will be fine at Chase. Otherwise, seek other options.

Care about your people, they are more than numbers.

Pros: They have great benefits and perks.
Cons: If you are an administrative professional, they put you under an admin umbrella. Essentially, you'll have two managers. The one you work for and the admin manager who oversees you. This can be quite confusing and they say they're there to help but not really. They only do this for administrative professionals. Why are admin's the only one's singled out? It seems unfair that they're the only group of professionals within JPMC, no other roles are treated the same. There's little movement for mobility and/or advancement within the admin profession. Lastly, if you want to have some flexibility to WFH, it is not an option.

Some managers are truly leaders and vested in their employees, however, some are quite the opposite. It's hard to find a good role if you promote yourself internally with the fear of getting a bad manager. Also, the admin managers have not been a good idea or direction. Due to this I decided on not returning, although I loved working for JPMC.

Pros: Best health insurance I've had from a corporate job 401k matching Paid holidays, sick and personal time Had an amazing manager Met amazing people Advanced my career
Cons: -We worked with outdated systems. We had ongoing technical issues with the applications needed to perform our job and although we reported them constantly to management and it was communicated to upper management, it was not resolved. Management still expected us to meet our goals and were constantly question about our inability to meet deadlines. -Chase's refusal to implement much needed changes and upgrade their systems. Management would often give us non sense explanations as why they wouldn't upgrade: Example- For auto loan closings up until 2018, chase refused to updrade their systems to e signing citing fraud risks. However I suspect they simply did not want to spend on the needed permits, products and training to get out of the stone age. Favoritism: Some rules did not apply to certain employees while some employees would be coached for the same shortcomings. Lack of growth: My colleagues and I found ourselves stuck in the same position with no opportunities to expand and grow.

Please listen to your employees and don't ignore or blame their production delays when there are unresolved technical issues. Also, management treat your employees equitably.

  • Horrible place for growthSecurity Engineer | Plano, TX

    Salary - D | Culture - F | Management - F | Coworkers - D

Pros: Company is immune to failing.
Cons: * Worked in Plano. There was no campus life. Management tries to engage everyone, but the hired engineers avoid them, and the ones that join the events tend to only communicate with people of the same culture. * rewards and incentives are non existent. Won first place in a hackathon, company reward was 50$. Chase is worth about 600b$. Promised promotions go on for years. * education incentives are practically non existent. * talent hired across the globe is way below average. Worked on a kms service and had to talk to a lot of developers… Managers talent is similar. Met multiple MDs that were extremely unprofessional (one MD cracked a joke about my manager doing a private dance in front of the whole team) * teams I worked on were structured in archaic ways. No distributed devops, no one team owns their products full lifecycle, a ton of inter-team dependencies that slow down the work. This is actually incentivized by the current managing/business structure. My manager always chose what’s best for the team and not the company. We developed a service that depends on our other service even though it would have been way better for the company if we didn’t. * management keeps pushing micro management practices. *platforms are extremely horrible to use. Engineers can barely describe their work let alone document it.

    * better hiring. Need better talent that has minimum communication skills for a healthy workplace. * overhaul archaic managing practices. * Better incentives for employees to succeed * embrace a better devops lifecycle instead of an archaic way. *standardize tooling.

  • NO GROWTH. POLITICS MATTER.Audit Manager | Plano, TX

    Salary - B | Culture - F | Management - F | Coworkers - D

Pros: Recognizable company. Strong market share and history. Structured audit function.
Cons: No growth. You will be treated as an afterthought. Horrible middle management that is either too jaded, overworked, or just lazy to provide valuable feedback. Prepare to kiss everyone's butt for a strong rating. Being the top bank, these observations weigh heavy on their status.

Wake up. Stop with the posturing and buzz words. Middle management has been pampered to just barely make. AWM middle management needs a refresh. Losing people internally isn't a win. You will continue to lose people to other functions because of stale management.

Pros: Great Pay. Easy to move up with the company. Perks with the job.
Cons: Management is very inconsistent. Although is a positive thing that you’re able to move up and Chase rather quickly they move a lot of people up that has no business being anyone’s manager. They do not know what they’re doing and turn this season employees that have to pick up management slack and do their job for them.. This is not everywhere. However it is the luck of the draw if you have a season manager or not.

Utilize HR when needed and document everything..

    Salary - B | Culture - C | Management - B | Coworkers - C

Pros: As long as you don't get fired the company itself is reliable. And you could move up to make good money but it's mostly commission based and it's not easy to move up
Cons: Moving up is completely based on numbers you bring in. Though you're part time and barely get the opportunity to get the numbers that they want so good luck moving up. And even once you do it's mostly commission based so you could make a lot of a little. It'll vary a lot

  • Good entry level finance sales jobRelationship Banker | Washington, DC

    Salary - C | Culture - B | Management - A | Coworkers - B

Pros: Great way to get licensed and explore a career in finance, not too difficult on the day to day. Your location really defines your income Great training program through knopman marks Continuing education through Guild is great resource
Cons: Limited mobility if you want to move up. All of the traditions of conservative finance without any of the pay. It’s retail so you have to deal with anybody who chooses to walk in to the branch. You have to buy the expensive clothes with your own money. The new employee credit doesn’t get you a wardrobe to weather the seasons.

Give good employees the opportunity to move around even if they have been around less than a year. Find leaders who care about the work and want to improve other than get a paycheck

  • Great Experience OverallAssociate Banker - ME | Aurora, CO

    Salary - A | Culture - B | Management - A | Coworkers - A

Pros: You'll meet some great people no matter which market you're in. Big on culture which I appreciated.
Cons: A few bad hires like my branch manager led to most of the team being let go, but it was a positive experience outside of that.

Be careful with the management positions you're recruiting for. They make such a huge impact on the culture you claim you care about so much. 99% of the people who work at JPMorgan Chase are amazing, but it only takes one bad manager or director to slowly kill the whole market and have employees lose passion.
